Care for a Better Mount

Caping to Head:  Start just behind the brisket, which is just behind the front shoulder and forelegs.  Peel skin down over the neck.  To make skinning easier, an incision may be made down the center of the back of the neck to the base of the ears.  Never make an incision on the under or throat side.  Always leave plenty of skin so a proper mount can be made.  Remember there is no extra charge for skinning; we would rather skin the animal for you while you wait, so no meat will be lost.  Do not allow the skin to sit very long.  Bring it in immediately to prevent slipping of the hair.  If you cannot bring it in immediately, put it in a plastic bag and freeze.

Care of Birds

Place all birds whole in a plastic bag and bring in immediately, or freeze right away.

Deer Feet

Cut all deer feet to be mounted above the knee joint.  Remember -- always leave plenty of skin on all mounts.

Fish

Freeze whole.  Do not remove entrails!  Wrap tail in wet towel or cloth & freeze in plastic.
